Low- and Moderate-Income (LMI) Eligibility
$80K household income cap on PSE&G BD LMI tiers. ACE LMI is +$200/measure with no fixed income cap (verify). Surface as upsell only — never apply to headline numbers.
Low- and Moderate-Income (LMI) Eligibility
The rule
PSE&G Building Decarbonization programs include a Low- and Moderate-Income (LMI) tier triggered when household income is below $80,000. The LMI tier increases the rebate amount on each BD sub-program:
- BD Clean Heat: $10,000 → $12,000
- BD Dual Heat: $5,000 → $6,000
- BD Hybrid Heat: $2,000 → $3,000
ACE Rebates add an additional $200 per measure for LMI-qualified households. The fixed income cap for ACE LMI is not yet verified — when in doubt, defer to the consultation.
How the agent should apply it
- HomeWise does NOT collect household income in the configurator — never ask the user for income directly. Income is sensitive and not required to recommend a track.
- For tracks containing any LMI-eligible program (PSE&G BD Clean/Dual/Hybrid Heat, ACE rebates), surface LMI as an upsell via a
lmiBonusfield on the track:lmiBonus: { additionalAmount: <delta between standard and LMI tier>, eligibility: <verbatim caveat copy from below> } - The headline
totalRebatesvalue MUST always use the standard (non-LMI) rebate amount. Never apply the LMI tier to top-line numbers — it's a "you may also qualify for" upsell, not a default. - UI renders
lmiBonusas a secondary line under the track total, framed as additional eligibility the user can confirm.
Caveat copy
Verbatim string for lmiBonus.eligibility:
"If your household income is under $80,000, you may qualify for an additional [$X] in rebates — verified during your free consultation."
(substitute [$X] with the LMI delta — i.e., the difference between the LMI tier rebate and the standard rebate for the applicable program — at runtime)
When a user asks the agent about LMI directly, agent says: "If your household income is under $80,000, you may qualify for higher LMI rebate tiers on the PSE&G Building Decarbonization programs and additional $200 per measure on ACE. We confirm exact eligibility — including the income documentation required — during your free consultation."
